Me, me, me

While living abroad for several years, it is apparent that Scotland is known for many things, deep-fried Mars bars, Irn Bru, less than ideal weather compensated for by breath-taking scenery and, of course, Whisky.

(I thoughtfully commend the 2 former but insist the 2 latter remain the preferred combination)

As a man of a certain vintage, I prefer to call it character, it is assumed by most non-Scots that I can thoughtfully discuss and  recommend single malt. In fact, I’ve been approached on more than one occasion with an expectation that I possess some knowledge, installed at birth, to which only Scots have access, with the hope that I can elevate their whisky drinking to a new level.  Having been drinking single malts for a relatively short time it seemed incumbent upon myself to gain a better knowledge so I could encourage single malt drinking wherever I may be. But let’s not pretend, also for my own interest and pleasure.

Driven to drink

At present, this site is for single malt in particular, we’ll possibly expand to blends and other countries versions should opportunity and time allow. We hope it to be a source of interest to those with all levels of knowledge experience of drinking Scottish single malt whisky.

This site is dedicated to my dedication for sampling drams from all current distilleries in operation, plus any from those silent or no longer in existence. We’ll be visiting all the distilleries in person, though only the occasional tour, and trying out their standards but if the bank account allows also some of the rare and best versions too. To reserve myself for the great task ahead, my wife “Lucky” shall be the chauffeur, photographer, editor, tech guru, accountant, and all-round go-getter.

I shouldn’t call it heroic, but I’m hoping somebody will.
